Adopt-A-School Program

Requirements & Commitment

Attend a Joint Professional Development workshop.

Identify one core subject teacher to act as the Adopt-A-School Coordinator.

Assemble a team consisting of 4-5 core subject area teachers who agree to participate fully in the following procedures. (At least one fine arts specialist should serve as a resource and to be present at planning meetings.)

No more than 3 planning meetings per school for the Arts Organization/Artist.

The team will plan and develop arts integrated instruction with the Arts Organization/Artist: this may mean some after-school planning sessions with the Arts Organization. Each team will submit an Integrated Curriculum Unit to Art Links.

Have at least one certified teacher for every 25 students at all times.

Art Links staff will visit the classroom and observe at least once during the unit.

Commit to the following timelines and documentation:

---By the end of September: entire team has an initial in-school planning meeting with the Art Links teaching artist.

--By the end of October: visit schedule submitted to Art Links.

--By the end of November: curriculum unit submitted to Art Links.

--By the end of January: entire team has a mid-unit planning and assessment meeting; worksheet submitted to Art Links.

---By the end of May: team completes an evaluation form and submits it to Art Links.
